Products

Platforms

VectorStar is available on both 32 and 64-bit CPUs, and on Linux, Windows, and Unix operating systems (not all platform combinations are supported, however, and some features and limitations are platform-specific).

Here is a rough categorization:

·         x32/WIN is good for personal use on laptops, PDAs, and even WIN-CE based cell phones

·         x32/LNX is not supported

·         x64/WIN is good for flexible, multi-faceted servers which support a large variety of data types and functionalities (such as biometric querying)

·         x64/LNX is better for "workhorse" servers as, ceteris paribus, I/O is likely to be twice as fast than in x64/WIN

·         x64/UNX is a good candidate for databases with extreme numbers of objects (i.e., tables, columns, UDTs, SPs, etc.-- this does not mean rows)

Trial Downloads

A limited TRIAL x32/WIN version will be soon available for download by the general public from the Download page. It will come by default with an evaluation key that expires at midnight of the Sunday of the download week (Sunday 12am GMT-6:00). Please contact us if you need an extended period trial key.

We will also provide TRIAL x64/LNX  and x64/WIN versions for download by qualified interested parties.  These versions will not be available for download by the general public. Please contact us if you are interested in evaluating one.

Purchase

Please refer to the Community/Commercial Partners page for info on resellers, distributors, OEMs, and how to purchase our products in your area.

Nomenclature

The nomenclature for our products is structured as follows:

·         Family id, followed by a blank,

·         optional Extended Product id, Version id, followed by a blank,

·         CPU Architecture id, followed by a slash,

·         Operating System Kind id, followed by a slash,

·         Operating System Brand id

Thus, the following product name:

VectorStar 2.1 x32/WIN/XP

designates version 2.1 of our trial VectorStar DBMS product for the Windows XP 32-bit platform. While:

VectorStar FT2.2BETA1 x64/LNX/RHOS

designates the first BETA release (BETA1) of version 2.2 of our Fault Tolerant (FT) VectorStar DBMS product for the Linux (LNX) OpenSuse & RedHat 64-bit platforms.

Unsupported Platforms

VectorStar x64/UNX/FreeBSD

For BSD 5.2.1, the following changes to configuration files might be enough:

In file /etc/rc.conf  add:

linux_enable="YES"

In file /etc/fstab  add:

linproc /compat/linux/proc linprocfs rw 0 0

VectorStar x32/WIN/CE

VectorStar should run on PocketPCs running Windows CE 4.0 (PocketPC 2003) or later. It might require some slight configuration adjustments.

VectorStar x32/UNX/OSX

VectorStar should run on Mac OS X 10.3 (PowerPC|Intel) or later, but it will likely require some (minor?) tweaks.
