NOTE: the BETA3 (BETA 3) and RC1 (Release Candidate 1) version ids both refer to the same product. This update is available for both Windows (XP, Server 2003, Server 2008) and Linux (RedHat or OpenSuse) operating systems, and provides enhancements in the following areas:

· unbounded display and reporting limits

· remote communication between VSQL instances

· VectorSQL and JavaToNJ java classes

· JDBC ANSI-SQL execution

· metadata in query result data formats

· Command Spec reference document

If you are an authorized BETA program customer, you may download the latest version for Linux64 (RedHat or OpenSuse) by following the instructions below(you will need your private BETA user-id and password to access the files).

Download for Windows using ftp:

> ftp [IP ADDRESS]

(enter your BETA program user name and password)

binary

get VSTAR-2.1-RC1.50-win64.exe

bye

Once downloaded, run the file to install the update.

Download for Linux using ftp:

> ftp [IP ADDRESS]

(enter your BETA program user name and password)

binary

get VSTAR-2.1-RC1.50-lux64.tar.gz

bye

Once downloaded, proceed to extract it into the desired install directory, e.g.:

> tar -xzf VSTAR-2.1-RC1.50-lux64.tar.gz

As this update includes several changes to the Java interface, please make sure to try the Java/VectorSQL and Java/Jdbc examplets on found on n/n64/hlp/tut/Java. A readme file in that directory provides more details about the required setup.
